There are minimal risks involved in a pulmonary function test. The test is noninvasive, meaning no incisions or surgical instruments are needed. So there is very little risk. The procedure is also not painful since you will just be breathing into the spirometer tube.
Still, you may experience some dizziness, coughing, or shortness of breath during the test if you are asked to breathe differently than you normally do. Our staff will be monitoring you throughout the test and will advise you if you begin exhibiting any symptoms.
